“Hi, I’m Tracie! I’m excited to join the Virginia Rural Health Association as the new Director of the Southwest Virginia Graduate Medical Education Consortium (SWVA GMEC). Over the past few weeks, I’ve met with residency programs, healthcare partners, and community leaders across Southwest Virginia to learn more about their work and how GMEC can best support them. Every conversation has reminded me how much people in this region care about improving healthcare close to home. As someone who grew up in Southwest Virginia, I find it rewarding to be part of an organization that trains and supports the next generation of healthcare professionals. I’m looking forward to building relationships, finding new opportunities to collaborate, and helping GMEC continue its important work throughout the region.”
Tracie grew up in Richlands, Virginia, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Public Relations from Radford University and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Marketing from East Tennessee State University. In May 2026, she completed her Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Leadership and Rural Health at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy. She has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, higher education, graduate admissions, and community engagement, with a passion for expanding healthcare access in rural communities. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, thrift shopping, and exercising.
